We now carry hand-decorated fine porcelain on our Victorian Tea Garden page, and elegant Royal Patrician bone china!
Giving
a Tea Party for a Bride, an out-of-town Guest, or a
Mother-to-be is a wonderful tradition which is being
revitalized all over the country! A Tea Party is
also the perfect way to mark the passing of a young girl into young
womanhood or to show honor at the arrival of a birthday milestone.
We have Placecards and Invitations!
When
you give a Tea Party, will there be a theme? A few simple touches
to your centerpiece and table favors can pull the decor into a unified
look. Almost anything can be a centerpiece! Once we had a
birthday party for my mother, but were not allowed to use lit candles
in the dining room of the nursing facility. We made a
pinwheel of pastel birthday cake candles pointing outward like wheel
spokes from a birthday bouquet at the table's center. We
used ribbons as napkin rings to add to the cake-and-gift
motif.

When
you give a Tea Party, photos, memorabilia, seasonal flowers and greens,
even toys can make a unique central focal point on your Tea Party
table.
Complete
your theme by giving thought to the table conversation. My family
and Julie all know that I am not a "fun" or "games" person, but some
well-chosen questions for ice breakers or periodic re-focusing of the
conversation can assist in making the Tea Party all that the
occasion has been planned to be.
For your Tea Party Menu, may we suggest...
A
Tea Party is that perfect occasion for girls and women of all ages to
dress up just for the fun of being feminine without a male for miles to
admire them! As well, the finer points of good manners can
be observed (one would hope) and imitated. I had the joy of attending a tea party given for a young woman's eighteenth birthday. Along with a wonderful spread
of refreshments, gifts, short speeches, and even liturgical dances were
part of this sweet celebration. If gifts are expected, provide
the guest of honor with a lovely set of Thank You Notes!
When
you give a Tea Party, it is wonderful if a special room can be rented,
and this is sometimes necessitated by the number of guests expected,
but any room can be transformed into a magical
"partyland" with flowers, candles, linens and special
favors. No special dishes? Why not borrow or even
rent? Everything does NOT have to match! In fact, it's
quite pretty to have a different pattern of teacup at every place!
Are
you looking for a large quantity of porcelain teacups or children's
porcelain teacups for an event? Check out the fabulous near
wholesale prices on our Quantity Discount Teacups page!

Edibles
for your Tea Party may be both sweet and savory, and small
servings allow for greater variety. Most of us enjoy being able
to taste many goodies without feeling stuffed. Tea, of course,
should be served, but it is perfectly acceptable to also serve coffee,
punch, sparkling water or juice, and even wine. Check out our Tea Party Menu page for fabulous recipes and ideas from our columnists!
If
a younger element is among the guests, have an activity table to keep
little hands busy! Tea Party stickers on pretty paper keep
dresses clean while minds stay creative. Make pages for a book to
give to the Guest of Honor!

Plastic tea party dishes
and dolls are also a wonderful way to make the event fun for those for
whom adult chatting becomes a bit dull with time. Dolls
can even be officially invited to the tea party and have their own
table! Use little teacup ornaments or doll tea sets for their
settings!
